We have been here before. We know how this story goes when no one speaks up. We can see where it is going.

A child reported by her school. A sick man turned away from a hospital. A mother with no recourse to anything, not food, not shelter, not safety, because four words on a form said so.

Passing on the blame to the imaginary migrant, instead of doing the work of repair and care.

The language gets smoother. And the violence gets harder to see, which is exactly what makes it more dangerous. Lies are digitally manufactured and spread like a wildfire. If you believe in nothing, you will believe anything.

What is constantly presented as competence and control reveals something more troubling: a government that has learned to package harm as governance, and cruelty as common sense.

And something else is happening, quieter but just as corrosive: exhaustion. A deep weariness in the people who have been holding the line for years. The old responses are not working. Not because people lack courage.

But because harm has been allowed to settle into the walls of everyday life like damp, invisible until the whole structure starts to rot.
